What is your opinion of Amir now, at the conclusion on the novel? How has your opinion or respect of Amir changed or developed since the beginning? 2. Explain the significance and symbolism of Amir running the kite for Sohrab at the end of the novel. How does this represent a "full circle" in Amir's life? 3. Would Baba be proud of Amir now? Describe Amir's life in America. Has it been successful? Fulfilling? After chapter 16, what are your thoughts on Amir's struggle with his own guilt at this point in the novel? How has your opinion changed about him since he was a boy in Kabul? Do you think he can "be good again?" Why or why not?

At the end of chapter 7, Amir witnesses the attack and rape of Hassan after Hassan has run down the final kite of the tournament for Amir. Why doesn't Hassan give Assef the kite? Why doesn't Amir step in or help? What is Amir thinking as he witnesses this horrible act of abuse? Discuss your opinion of Amir's actions AND your opinions of Hassan and his actions.
