Good Again?
Describe Amir's life in America. Has it been successful? Fulfilling? After chapter 16, what are your thoughts on Amir's struggle with his own guilt at this point in the novel? How has your opinion changed about him since he was a boy in Kabul? Do you think he can "be good again?" Why or why not?
Amir is having a great life in America. So far everything is going great, Baba has a job, Amir had graduated high school and is proceeding on to college. Amir and Baba have become very close and are very fortunate they are in America. I still think Amir regrets everything he had done to Hassan and he ruined a brotherhood not just for him and Hassan but also for Baba and Ali. I still have the same opinion on him, I believe if he had went back to that same situation on saving Hassan or not, he would have done the same thing even though he regrets it and claims he wishes he didn’t. I don’t really like Amir still and am hoping he reunites with Hassan but he has to earn his forgiveness.
ReplyDeleteSo far Amir's life in America is going good. Amir is out of high school and is going onto college. I believe that Amir feels guilty for what he had done to Hassan and his family. It was his fault that the two family's had separated after all those years being together. I still believe that Hassan can be good again. Ever since the little boy in Kabul Hassan would do anything for Amir. I feel like Hassan would forgive him if he would ever apologize for what he had done.
ReplyDeleteIn America Amir's life has been very successful as he got into a good college for writing and has published 4 books. It is also fulfilling because he has found and married a loving wife. I think that Amir wants to be a good person and he is trying to do that by putting his past in the past.I think he is deeply sorry for how he acted when he was younger and if he could do it differently he would. I do think he can be good again because he is truly sorry and ashamed about what he did. I think he first needs to face Hassan again to be able to be forgiven.
ReplyDeleteAmir’s life in America has changed dramatically. When he moved to America he left all his other conflicts behind and he has grown a stronger relationship with his father Baba. Amir’s life has changed sense his dad is now showing the love he has always wanted from him. Amir is not only having a successful life because he is growing a better relationship with Baba, but meets a women that makes him happy. Amir has matured a lot sense met Soraya. Amir has graduated high school and is now going to college.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Amir regrets everything he had done to Hassan and wishes he would’ve been more of a friend to him after the incident with Assef and Hassan. I believe he regrets this because he made the family fall apart because Ali and Hassan had left. My opinion about Amir has not changed. I believe he wouldn’t have saved Hassan even if he had to. I don’t believe he could be “good” again because he made the family fall apart over one action that he should’ve done.
Amir's life in America he lived in Fremont, California. He grew into a young confident man and mature. He continued writing since he loves he graduated from college and found a girl he fell in love with. Baba got a job and loves it. In my opinion I think Hassan could be respectful and he cares so much about Amir but Hassan could forgive and forget about what happened in his childhood. All he is trying to do is put his past in the past and keep it there.
ReplyDeleteAmir is having a great time in America. He has published four books so far and Baba and Amir both have a job and Amir is now married. He struggles with the thought of what would happen to Baba when he gets older. I now personally like Amir as a character. I beileve that Amir now has the chance to face his guilt and be forgiven for the cowardice he shown Hassan. (I would type more but this chapter has a lot of spoilers that could be leaked if I said more.)
ReplyDeleteAmir is having a good life in America. He went to college and is now a successful writer that has published four books. Baba has also found a job and Amir is married to Soraya Taheri, General Taheri daughter. I think that Amir still struggles with the fact that Hassan did that for him and he still has dream about him and Hassan playing and having fun. It still haunts him that he didn't help Hassan when he had the chance. I still don't like Amir as much just because he didn't help Hassan when he need him most. I do think that he can be good again though because if he tells Hassan that he is sorry and he know what he did wrong. The one thing that Amir has changed about himself sense he was a kid in Kabul is that he is more mature and he know what he has to do.
ReplyDeleteAmir’s life is beautiful in America. He is married to a woman he loves, he writes novels and he finally got his dad proud. The only sad part is that when Baba finally is proud he dies of cancer, his wife cannot get pregnant and now Rahim calls him and asks him for a favor. The favor is to come back home and listen to his story that Rahim needs to tell Amir.
ReplyDeleteAmir is trying to forgive himself by telling that Hassan has forgiven him and putting the past in the past, but when Rahim calls him everything returns. My opinions have not changed at all, I still do not like Amir and I mean kids do mistakes and kids are pretty mean because of fear. – But still, having that fear and acting immature and innocent does not work when you are 23. I feel that Amir is very selfish and likes to feel sorry for himself and nothing is ever his fault. Every person can change, but if Amir is going to change he better speed up and face his guilt and do something about it. Maybe let go of his fear is one way to go. I don’t think Amir is a bad person, however I feel that his fear makes him one.
Amir's life is much better than before than in Kabul. The country is a dangerous place to live right now due to the wars going on, and America has given Baba and Amir lots of oppurtunity. Amir has been able to get married, and has even become a published author. Amir and Baba are much closer than they ever were in America, and all around Amir seems happier. Amir will never forget about what happened to Hassan, but he has done good with continuing a successful life. Amir can talk to Hassan about what happened to make things good again. No matter what happened, Hassan was loyal to Amir in the end, and Amir wants things to be better. They can both talk and fix the problem.
ReplyDeleteI think Amir's life is going fantastic in America. He has a job writing books and has a wife. He also graduated high-school and is moving onto college. He is finally making his dad proud. Sadly, his dad is diagnosed with cancer and dies. After this, Him and Soraya purchase their own house and live together, Rahim Khan calls Amir, asking him to come back to Afghanisan saying "There's a way to be good again." Now All of Amir's fear and guilt rushes back to him. I think if he goes back to Afghanistan, he can be good again. He can work it out with Hassan and Rahim Khan. My view on Amir didn't change much yet, but it might
ReplyDeleteAmir has much a better life in America, he has a job publishing books and very much enjoys it. He has a beautiful wife Soraya and they bought their first house together. Amirs dad Baba is very proud of what he is doing in America, but Baba was diagnosed with cancer and passed away. One day Amir receives a phone call from Rahim Khan who says there's a way to " be good again". This brings a rush of all the bad memories back to Amir, my views have drastically changed on Amir, I really don't believe he is self-centered or anything. So yes my views have changed on Amir, he is very brave to go back to that war zone.
ReplyDeleteAmir has a much better life in america because he has many opportunities to become a great writer and tell his stories. The country was dangerous were they were living before. He would want to have a better life in america because he was wanting to build a better chance on having a relationship with baba. They can both go to america and fix the many problems that they had back in the past. They wanted to forget about the past
ReplyDeleteIn American, Amir is having everything he has ever dreamed of happening to him. he got the girl of his dreams and is becoming a successful writer. Amir has matured a lot more since Baba's passing and is much more responsible than the time when he was in Kabul as a child. I be leave that Amir dose really have the chance to be good again and is going to redeem himself in the eyes of Hassan.
ReplyDeleteAmir’s life is America for the most part is happy and joyful. Amir has married Soraya and has had four published books. Amir and Soraya live in a house in California and love one another immensely. They are so far unable to have children, and Baba has passed away. Amir struggles with the burden of his guilt and still thinks of Hassan all these years later. My opinion of Amir has not changed, I don’t think Amir is a bad person, he just never learned to stand up for those around him. I think Amir can “be good again” if he were to reunite with Hassan and make up for the lost time and Hassan’s unreturned loyalty.
ReplyDeleteAmir’s’ life in America started out rough. Baba and he basically lived in poverty. They have one, old beat up car and live in a small apartment. Baba works as a cashier at a gas station, while Amir is going to college. Even though they don’t have a lot of money, they try to enjoy their time as much as possible. I think when Baba becomes sick is when Amir starts becoming successful, he graduates from college, gets married, and his life is becoming well, even though his father is going to die. I disliked Amir a lot after he didn’t do anything for Hassan when he was getting raped by Assef, but I think that if he can go back to Kabul and do something for Rhaim, he can be good again. - Haris Hoffman
ReplyDeleteAmir has mostly had a successful life in America so far. He was accepted into college, was able to publish 4 books and marry the love of his life. He seems very happy, putting aside the fact that his father is unwell, his life is much better than it was in Kabul. It is fulfilling to see that his father is finally becoming proud of him and his accomplishments, but also unfortunate that he is dying of cancer. As a young boy, he was self centered and afraid. After moving to America and growing into adulthood, his new, successful life in America helps him forget about the flaws he had and sins he committed as an adolescent. Although, when Soraya tells Amir about her story of relief from her struggling past relationship, he envies that feeling. This motivates him to obtain his friendship back with Hassan and get his relief. This shows a major step in his maturity. I believe that since he has changed, he has the power to be good and do good.
ReplyDeleteAmir's life in America, has pretty much been almost perfect. He has graduated highschool, along with planning on going to college. His father also has a job. He is starting to become more concerned about what is going to happen with Baba, as he is becoming older. This makes me like Amir even more because it shows that he cares about Baba that much more. I have always liked Amir as a character, and I still do. I believe that Amir can still be good again, because in life people are going to make mistakes, but you should not treat people differently on their mistake, as long as they try to find a way to make it better, as well as correcting that mistake.
ReplyDeleteAmir's life in America has definitely been fulfilling, as he was able to graduate high school. Baba's sickness has taken a toll on Amir though, and his caring tendencies with his father show Amir is maturing. I hope Rahim helps Amir to be good again, and that conflicts with Hassan can be resolved. Mistakes are made in everyone's life, it's how Amir learns and grows from these mistakes though that will resolve his past.
