Describe Amir's life in America. Has it been successful? Fulfilling? After chapter 16, what are your thoughts on Amir's struggle with his own guilt at this point in the novel? How has your opinion changed about him since he was a boy in Kabul? Do you think he can "be good again?" Why or why not?
America's strength is also America's weakness. America care a lot. If an american see something that is wrong they don't turn their back and use the argument "It's not my business", they care and they are making sure that the victim is okay.
ReplyDeleteBut somtimes, the country pushes it a little too far. America think that countries scream for help, or people scream for help because they let you know bad things that is happening. We don't understand when someone wants to solve their own problem or they have it all under control.
We need to be better at balancing our strength because right now it is out weakness too.

ReplyDeleteOur society's greatest moral strength is probably the way deep down, we all actually see each other as human beings. Especially in times of need, people will almost always give a helping hand to each other. One example of this, although somewhat old, is 9/11. When that happened, everyone stopped what they were doing, and helped each other. Everyone put anything negative aside to go and help other humans in need.
-Failing
Our society's greatest failing is probably the way people treat each other the rest of the time. I'm not saying that most people treat others poorly, or that it happens often...but there are plenty of people that dislike/hate other people or groups of people for no good reasons. If we could figure out how to cease this "culture war" going on the U.S today, we could begin to progress much quicker
Our society's greatest moral strength would have to be our technology. The way that the technology has been improved over the years. The more that they do test on the technology and when they are developing more things that are portable and more use able in this generation. The more that they are using technology the more things that are not being used and many business are going bankrupt.
ReplyDeleteOur society's greatest failure would have to be the way that they have security in the area. For example like schools and not having a officer to come in the school and do drug searches. The more that students are taking advantage of the way that there are limited security is unreal. Students are bring drugs and items that they should not be allowed to have until a certain age. There are students that might have threatening messages and even inappropriate sayings that are not becoming reported. This security in the country needs to improve this subject for sure. The more people that are getting involved in many different accidents that are crimes. The way that people are dying each day because of the security is not being improved over time.
I think that our society's greatest moral strength is that we are good at helping others when they need it. When other countries go to war America is very good at lending our allies support. Because of our strength and power we are often needed by smaller countries. Our greatest moral is that we are not afraid to get our hands dirty and help.
ReplyDeleteOn the flip I think America's greatest moral failing is that as a country we are not very good at accepting changing views. As a nation we are currently split on multiple topics because we don’t want to change the way we view things. For example the LGBTQ community has been getting stronger but as a country we are having a hard time accepting this.
I think our society's greatest moral strength is sports because all the people around the world admire our sporting activities. People come to the united states to play sport like for example people and players come from the Dominican Republic to play baseball in the MLB and Luka Dontic came from the European league to come and play in the NBA. We are the most domination in sports because we pay better and we have better competition. Our greatest moral failure is our government and how we are so divided and can't make decisions. Our government is probably one of the most hated in the world just because we think we can control everything. I understand that it is hard to agree on everything but it has to more effective.
ReplyDeleteI believe the strength of our society today is that we are great at sticking with our constitution and letting people keep their rights and their freedom. Other countries change in an instant and the US is good at letting people speak for themselves and have their own space and do what they please as long as they follow the law. All our country cares about if our freedom.
ReplyDeleteI believe a weakness that our society has is that how our government doesn’t get along. With Trump in office doing a great job at what he does, democrats continue to not trust him and are investigating him. People today don’t respect our president like they did in the past. Our country lacks in respect, people need to learn to get a long and solve the problems together instead of trying to get Trump out of office.
I think that the greatest moral of our society is our freedom. The united states are much more privileged than other countries. Immigrants come over to the united states just so the can get a decent paying job, clean water everyday, a warm bed to sleep in, and support from our government.
ReplyDeleteI Believe our greatest failing moral is are unemployment. In 2009 our unemployment rate was an astonishing 10 percent. When we brought in Donald Trump for president that rate went down by 6%. I believe this is are failing moral but we are certainly rising.
America's strength is our ability is stand up for whats right, america always stands up for whats right, we are fair in everything we do. Example being equality, everybody has a fair chance in America regardless of skin tone or etc. Our greatness weakness in society is politics, in a whole politics are ran by rich snobs that have had no struggle in their life, it only divides the country more and is always creating problems. Younger People should be running this country.
ReplyDeleteI think that our society’s greatest strength is our people’s work ethic. Most people want to work and make money to support their children and have a good life. That is why the United States unemployment rate is lower, because people are going out and trying to find jobs and are trying to make a good life for their families.
ReplyDeleteI think that our government is our biggest weakness because of how sneaky it is. I think that the government thinks of them as the best. The government thinks and acts as the better than all the other nations and that sometimes gives the U.S. a bad rep.

Our societies greatest moral strength is to be able to stand together for people in need if its financially, sympathetically, or in the more literal sense. To know that people who struggle with health problems can have people they hardly know, write letters of good will is one great example.
ReplyDeleteAre societies greatest moral failing would be how easily america can be divide in such a short time, like before and after the Donald Trump Election. When people where rioting uncontrollably, beating up Trump supporters because they where not getting there own way.

ReplyDeleteI believe our society's greatest moral strength is helping one another out is someone get hurt we usually help or if someone is stuck on the side of the road people pull over and ask if they need help or anything but when I went to the hawk game my friends truck he left the lights on and the battery went dead and nobody helped us for 3 hours then a kind gentleman asked if we needed anything and we said yes. Kind people is the strength
What is our society's greatest moral failing? Why do you think so?
I believe that our society's greatest moral of failing is not being polite there are so many rude and disrespectful people nowadays because it makes them feel good about themselves but they don't know what the person is going through already and you never know one word could kill somebody. I also believe there will be another war in the future because of everything happening in the world.
Our society’s greatest moral is the belief to give. In today’s society, everyone wants to give and help out as much as they can. Everyone wants to be able to help each other out by giving them support in any way possible. For instance, if there is ever a fundraiser at the school, people will give countless numbers of dollars, as well as any help that is needed to help the fundraiser raise money. Our society, especially our community, is very good in helping give back and helping each other out, especially during fundraisers. Another instance in which giving support to others is when people sign up to be organ donors. When people do this, they know they are going to be able to help someone out by donating their organs to someone who is in desperate need of an organ. Our society is full of givers, and tends to lack beggars, which is great. When you help out and give to others, it brings a sense of joy to yourself. Our society’s greatest moral is the belief to give.
ReplyDeleteOur society’s worst moral, is the belief that money is needed to be happy. Often in today’s society, people are talking a lot about money. Whether they have a lot of money, or have very little money at all, people are often complaining about money. Our society believes that money can buy happiness. Although it can buy you things such as a boat, or sports tickets to a game that will make you happy, money cannot buy happiness. People think you cannot have any happiness when you do not have money, which is completely false. In my life experiences, often the adventures that cost the least amount of money, tend to be the most fun. I would much rather spend a day hiking through the woods (costs zero dollars to walk) compared to going shopping. Money is not needed in order to be happy as long as you appreciate what you have. If you do things that make you happy, you will not “need” money to make you happy.
I believe our society's greatest moral strength is respecting yourself. I believe this because many people are going somewhere in life and believing in themselves. We are being honest about who we are and following our dreams. We are respecting ourselves by taking action with things happening around us. We are not letting others decide who we are, we are deciding for ourselves. We are willing to accept the reality and know what is right for us.
ReplyDeleteI believe our society’s greatest moral weakness is treating others the way you want to be treated. I believe this because there are many shootings in the world. The shooters think about themselves and not about others and their family. They don’t feel the family pain when they find out that their family member is dead from a shooting. I also believe this because everyone in this world treats someone else different. I will admit that I am not perfect, no one is perfect, and that I treat others poorly and I feel guilty after the fact that I have just spoke or done something to someone to make them feel depressed or mad.
In our society, I feel like one thing we do well in America is having an optimistic attitude with hard working people. In the book, The Kite Runner, Rahim Khan tells Amir he sees that America has instilled so much optimism in him and gave him something to dream about and work towards. I feel this is very true for most Americans. From a young age, we all dream of becoming something so great and are supported by our parents, teachers and other influencers that we are able to be someone important and do something great in this world. A strong suit for American people is working hard towards this dream and actually accomplishing what we want to do.
ReplyDeleteIn American society, I feel that most Americans seem to be greedy when it comes to money and popularity. Many Americans are taught that you are not supposed to sacrifice what is yours for the greater good. This does not mean all of America is greedy, but most Americans seem to be very self-centered and have a hard time putting things into perspective and ignore how lucky they are, compared to how other countries are living. When American people to help others, they believe that they are so miraculous and pure. They tend to post small gestures, like donating old clothes they were going to throw away, on social media for everyone to see, help boost their ego and make them feel like a better person. Unfortunately, these behaviors do not always continue.
Our greatest moral in American society is our very optimistic attitude. In America, we create generations of dreamers. It is proven that positivity helps when performing tasks. We all have it embedded in our brains that we can climb up the ladder to success if we work hard. This has allowed our country to work hard for what we have, and even helped us achieve the highest GDP per capita. We even work hard to help each other be successful. We all have dreams and we motivate each other, and help one another find opportunities to find success
ReplyDeleteOur greatest flaw as a society is our practice of judgement. We judge based off things that don't matter such as appearance or wealth. People are too good to make eye contact with the homeless man on the street, but that man may be someone who served to protect their freedom. People need to be more open minded, and look at people from their pair of shoes.
I feel as America's greatest moral strength is our freedom. I really feel to us American's we overlook this great moral. This moral is all about how we all have the choices of what we can do. "Land of the Free" It all goes back to our history when we made the choice to become our own country and not be ruled by some person on a different island. This is America's greatest strength.
ReplyDeleteAmerica's weakest moral may be our kindness to our fellow Americans. American's hate towards each other is a big negative about America. In the United States of American we are capable of thinking of what we want. Of course not everyone agrees with what some people think. I really feel that we all Americans can never agree on a single thing together.
I think America’s greatest moral strength is our technology. Since the Industrial Revolution, technology has drastically changed and improved the way of living for citizens. New technology has been used to cure sicknesses, improve communication, and offer many new inventions that benefit everyday life. Technology has also been used to improve our military, and America is regarded as one of the best militaries in the world. Without the technology we have today, our country would be very behind and not considered one of the best countries.

Our government is extremely corrupt, as higher positions that control our economy such as Saudi Arabian princes with their oil industry have a great influence on politicians today. Other influences on politicians are wealthy people who by giving money to these candidates can push to pass laws and agendas based on their likings. Our government needs to put an end to the selfish actions of politicians made everyday, and work on promoting and creating a better country for all.
